1912-1914


Gold coins were intended for Canada since 1908, and in four denominations: $2.50, $5, $10, and $20. Only the $5 and $10 denominations were produced, and their production was halted in 1914 due to the Great War in Europe.
Coins struck in 0.9 gold; weight 8.36 grams; diameter 21.59 mm.

Patterns dated 1928 exist, but did not go into production.

1973


Fourteen different $5 silver coins were issued between 1973 and 1976 in support of the 1976 Olympic Games held in Montreal. Only the first two coins of 1973 were available for face value from banks.
Coins struck in 0.925 silver; weight 24.3 grams; diameter 38 mm.
